Welcome to the Cub Scout section of 1st Shinfield Scout Group Website, Cubs are the second section in the Scout Movement for boys and Girls between the ages of 8-10 ½ yrs.
We meet on a Wednesday night from 19.00-20.30 in the 1st Shinfield Scout Headquarters.
A typical pack night involves
- Flag break
- Game
- Activity
- Badge-work
- Game
- Flag Down
However depending on what we are doing this can always vary!!!
What else do we do?
As Cubs we like being out and about and we try to do this as much as possible, we have been ice skating, on hikes, on trips, canoeing and of course camping!!!
Most of the activities that we do are working towards one of the 7 challenge badges or 35 activity badges, as these range from Astronomer to Water Activities you can imagine that we are never bored!!!
At 1st Shinfield Cubs, we have 4 Sixes, which are led by the Sixer and Seconder, the Sixes are a good way of feeling part of a team and getting to know people.
The Leaders are 1st Shinfield are Akela ( Panda) and King Louis, all leaders are Police Checked and have to undergo the Scout training programme.

As Cubs we wear a dark green sweatshirt and the group necker, and a pair of trousers, anything but jeans, this is wear we put all of the badges that we earn!!!
